BBQ sauce is good. Bourbon is even better. Pair them together for the ultimate Fourth of July grilling experience. But you don’t have to slave over a hot stove all day just to perfect the recipe. This easy-to-make marinade calls for common ingredients you have around the house. With your favorite prefab BBQ sauce as the base, a few finishing touches will spice up the classic sauce and impress party guests. Ingredients
1 cup Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce
2 tablespoons light brown sugar or maple syrup
2 shots of bourbon
2 teaspoons of chili powder The rest is easy. After you’ve prepared the goods, add them all to a medium sauce pan and let it simmer over a low heat for about 10 minutes. Sure, it might burn off the booze, but the smokey-sweet whiskey taste is still there for slathering on ribs, chicken and even slices of bacon (and you can serve the leftovers on the rocks).
