Behind the Scenes with Teva at New York Fashion Week Spring 2019

Design |

New York Fashion Week is the fashion industry’s most prestigious showcase of innovative design and talent, a meeting of models, artists, bloggers, editors, and street style photographers from all over the world at the confluence of fashion and presentation.

Teva sandals have been styled by designers for years to help complete their runway looks, and New York Fashion Week Spring 2019 was no different. From curbside to front row, Teva sandals were turning heads this week and showing up as often as they show up on your adventures. Here, a behind-the-scenes look at our NYFW collaborations.

Collina Strada Runway Show

The first show of the week that Teva made an appearance in was the slice of Zen everyone needed. Designer Hillary Taymour treated guests to a “sound bath,” which is an ancient Tibetan practice of “bathing” in music created by bowls and gongs. Her looks were no less calming: airy white slips, checked fabrics, and tie-dye socks. Every model — the roster included talent of all ages —wore the Hurricane XLT2 in Black. AREA Runway Show

The inspiration for AREA’s collection is possibly our favorite: Libuse Niklova, a Czech artist and inventor who designed the first inflatable kids’ toys in the ‘60s. That translates into pieces like a pink prairie dress covered in crystals and a ruffled Kelly green dress paired with embellished Teva Hurricane XLT2 sandals. Photos by Ben Gabbe.

Sandy Liang Presentation

It took some convincing, but designer Sandy Liang finally persuaded her dad to let her host her NYFW presentation inside his Lower East Side establishment, Congee Village. There, models lounged in black Hurricane XLT2 sandals and crisp white socks while sipping Chinese beer and lemonade, and lookbooks were even printed on Chinese takeout menus. Photos by Ben Gabbe.

Anna Sui Runway Show

Many of the models walking in the Anna Sui runway show — including Bella Hadid — had something in common: they were debuting one of four Teva x Anna Sui collaboration sandals set to launch in Spring 2019! The collaboration will include two new colors of the Indio Jewell sandal and two new colors of the Flatform Universal when it comes out this spring. Photos by Ben Gabbe.

TOME Runway Show

While not an official collaboration, we couldn’t be more excited about the tassels adorning the Teva Original Universal sandals that TOME models wore on the runway. Each tassel was handmade by former refugee women resettled in Texas, all through Gaia. They paired beautifully with everything from silk dip-dye dresses to striped trousers.
